Research is one of the important activities of SRC, taken up in the state with the objective of reviewing the program, policies and outcome of efforts. The other objective of research has been to device a line of action for the future programs to be taken up by conducting 'Action Research'. A large number of research studies have been conducted by the SRC so far.

Apart from research studies, SRC has also conducted several evaluation studies in and outside the state. The SRC is empanelled by the NLM as an agency for conducting External Evaluation of literacy programmes and in this capacity SRC has conducted external evaluation in the following three districts.

1. District Buldhana - Maharashtra
2. District Jaisalmer - Rajasthan
3. District Alibagh (Raigad) - Maharashtra
